Every day, you just never know.

Which is my point of course.

It’s also why – in ATSuccess these days – I advocate this method to build your own market. It would surprise you to know that it DOESN’T irritate everyone, not when what you are writing about is dear to their hearts. Musicians can't get enough about breathing and embouchure. Yoginis want to explore their heart, body and mind every day, why not your email too? If you write about that, they'll read it.

This Daily Blog is emailed out to around 500 people, both in Japan and overseas.

The readers of the original English version are a mixture of AT teachers, trainees, some devoted AT students, friends and ex-students.

In Japan, it goes out mainly to my trainees – I have 137 of them now – and Graduates – now 80. The rest, I don’t know. BodyChance Basic members, public and friends I guess.

Carol at first thought:

"My God, Jeremy has an ego on him. Fancy calling his workshop "Golden Week". Bit over the top isn't it?"

Of course I heard all this AFTER - while we were laughing. I was able to inform Carol, that Golden Week was not a name I made up for BodyChance's annual residential - it was what the Japanese called it!

Golden Week happens in the first week of May every year. It is a Japanese version of Easter. Three public holidays, near a weekend, and everyone goes home to see family.

We'd got complaints. It was not going well…

I was the re-engineering.

First big shock was with a famous bank here in Japan.

Years ago now, can't say which bank - they don't like it. One the big ones. We had a strong supporter who opened the door for us. I didn't do it because, well jc has no Japanese, he is often in Australia, and bringing a translator in toe is clumsy/difficult to price/organise and follow through etc. etc. etc.

What I have noticed recently is that I benefit and enjoy doing the task I intended to do rather than procrastinating once again. As I experienced relief and joy about such a simple decision I found it really easy to change.

It was timely for me, as procrastination recently haunts my days.

I get up, make a list, and do very little of it. DAMN!

How do you manage the mammal in you?

When within 2 days you find your Self being angry - 5 times! - with different people, it's better to stop blaming the world for not making you happy, and instead ask the question:

WHAT IS GOING ON!!!!????

So I did that. Because it's me who got angry.

And the surprise is, it has a lot to do with how you lead a group.

Carol Dweck, in her book Mindset: The New Psychology of Success* tells the story of hugely successful athletes, who all started out, with no particular signs of greatness about them.

Michael Jordan wasn't recruited by the college he wanted to play for. He wasn't drafted by the first two NBA teams that could have chosen him. He was cut from his varsity team.

His response?

Do you start planning your teaching day by thinking:

"How could I best undermine my students today? How could I make sure they lose confidence, motivation and the desire to study Alexander's discovery with me?"

No, of course not.

Would it shock to know that you could be doing exactly that?

Not intentionally, but does it matter?

Teaching groups involves giving affirmation to students - but often teachers, in their desire to celebrate an achievement, affirm the wrong thing.

People seem obsessed by the different sizes of groups that they teach.

Individual vs small groups vs large groups vs massive gatherings.

All different? Not really.

Thinking group size matters is a recipe to get confused. It's a spurious division.

Sure, the emphasis is different, but watch Anthony Robbins teach a group of 5,000 people, and you still see Anthony Robbins teaching individuals.

One human being is the discrete component of any teaching situation.

Yes - I can teach alone, in absentia!
