Duh. Of course you have!

And part of my passion is finding our how to effectively communicate online. Communication is part of my 12 ATSuccess Steps. These, I am always evolving and adapting through experimentation.

“Banned” is a little hyperbole. Thrown out is a tad closer.

And I like getting thrown out of things. It’s become a habit.

Usually it’s because I won’t conform, or behave in an “expected” way. In the FB group AT Global, I kept asking people to try my services. I behave normally for a business, but they don’t like it.

It all started with STAT – doesn’t everything?

Basil is a remarkable BodyChance teacher, famous throughout Japan in the classical music world (“It’s very small.” Basil assures me) yet virtually unknown to the wider Alexander community. Totally fluent in English, Basil is an American citizen born in Hong Kong, who grew up in Japan from the age of one.

Basil is a delightful experience here: American on the outside, Japanese on the inside.

“Wow daddy, everywhere here has free Wi-Fi.”

My two girls – 14 and 17 - are with me in Japan. We are wandering around inside the sultry envelope of a damp Tokyo summer. Of course, two teenage girls are way more interested in free WiFi than temples and boring stuff like that. Unless there’s a photo op…

“Hey dad, take my photo walking down these stairs.”

Why? I wonder.

“I want to post it to Instagram.”

Instagram. Right. Still trying to figure that out.

I’ve spent a long time making a fool of myself.

Publically, loudly and with a lot fanfare. Or at least that is how I felt sometimes (foolish) and that is how I was told by others (sometimes). Yet as Brené Brown rightly points out – while risk taking opens you to the possibility of ridicule and hurt, it also opens you to all those other juicy emotions like vitality, joy, enthusiasm, love.

Recently I posted on Facebook, and got quite a response.

It was an insight I’d had into my own behaviour – which I am posting to Facebook all the time so what’s new? Yet this one hit a chord with a lot of folks! I was surprised by the rich reaction it garnered. Many people commented, I got unsolicited emails privately, and now I’m reading a book about it!*

It's been a long time since my last blog, and that is mainly because I have been devoting my time to helping individuals who are already in ATSuccess. I am really excited about what is happening, and boldly predict that this new generation of teachers can reshape the way our profession thinks about itself.

Those who follow my blogs (sorry I write so many) will undoubtedly know that I compare Alexander's Discovery - in it's potentiality for revolutionary change - on par with the internet.

I am sure there are readers out there who believe I am bonkers. And they could be right. History will be the judge of that. Occasionally I do worry about that my Self…

Indeed, I suffer from delusional optimism. I think it's a trade secret of all entrepreneurs. Without it, we would give up. So let me enjoy a little of my optimism right now…

An odd throwaway remark on Facebook, perceived as a criticism, can send me off on a silent rant against an unsuspecting soul (who has most likely forgotten I exist.) Yet it happens. Often. A remark in a meeting, a well-intentioned joke - gems, a source of joy if I let them.

I can know when I react that I am criticizing me, not the person I perceive doing it. It's a moment sent to wake me up, to draw my attention to an aspect of my life that hitherto has been hidden from my knowledge.
