In 2008, at the first Congress in Lugarno, I remember sitting on the grass with Pamela Blanc, wondrously sharing my recent discovery at BodyChance of creating a membership system. In fact, anyone who would listen faced a barrage of excited biz talk from me at that Congress: hastily convened meetings that many an odd passerby decided to join. I didn't care: "Pull over a chair!" I had a story to tell to anyone who would listen… (and I am still at it today!)

This morning on the Pro Members Skype call, "niche" was our topic front and centre.

Some of you know your niche – you've been doing it all your life, and it led you to Alexander Technique. Musicians, performers of all kinds, hobbyists/enthusiasts already have a passion burning within to then leverage as part of an Alexander Technique biz development process. If you fall into that category, there is still a lot of work to be done, but a critical part is done.

What if you don't have such a passion?

What if it is not obvious to you at all what your niche is?

Michael Masterson wrote a wonderful book Ready-Fire-Aim, and it is a must read for anyone building a business. Long before I read his book though, I had discovered the advantages of this way of doing business.

I didn't cry when my mother died, and I have felt some guilt towards that.

Of course there was some sadness, but not the same heart-wrenching sobbing that accompanied the death of my father many years earlier…

It happens so often, but every time it is mysterious. Alexander mentioned it:

Directly you get them to the point where they are right, they won't go on -- there is no urge -- they don't want to go on. 
That means that all energy and accomplishment can only be used when it is accompanied by the wrong thing.

That statement has always puzzled me a little, and it happened today in class. She wanted to sing, was pushing down, so I got in the way of that. It's my job. She bought her legs into the picture, we even danced a little. And then:

My new way of presenting case studies is to publish in full a teacher's 12 Point Plan, then offer my comments after each entry.
