There are few pleasures in life as great as running a business where you get paid for doing what you love - at least, that’s the theory!
The reality is that there are two kind of small businesses - ‘attractive’ and unattractive’.
Attractive businesses seem to work like magic. There’s always a waiting-list of customers, there’s a ‘buzz’ when talking about the business, clients are loyal and long-term, and everyone else in the industry is thinking ‘I want to be like that’. Businesses, associations and venues ask permission to partner with this kind of business, and feel lucky when they get the chance to do so. The business owner is the ‘go-to’ person in their field.
Unattractive businesses are, well, unattractive. The business owner is constantly trying to attract clients, often spending hours ‘pounding the streets’ with flyers and business cards, arriving at networking events before the sun comes up and writing blog posts that no one reads. Worse, each year is the same as the one before - lots of work for a few students, meaning that the teacher is too keen to keep the students they do have.
In this fun, interactive keynote, Lee will take you through the steps you need in order to ‘be attractive’ as a business. We’ll cover:
– Why it’s essential to be comfortable charging for what you do
– How to understand what clients really need
– How to clearly state your solutions to people’s problems
– How to articulate your own value, so that people want to know more
– Why we should all question the model of running a teaching practice that we’ve inherited from our teachers
– Why you should be boring with your marketing
– Why your niche is not your market
– Why having a successful practice helps everyone - all the time
