Hey Human! Put A Pebble in Your Shoe
by Jeremy ChanceHave you ever noticed - just when a student is starting to do best - they decide to leave?
Saying things like:
“Got so much to work on now, so grateful.”
Or
“I am feeling overwhelmed; I need time to digest.”
Or
“It’s getting hard to find time – I think I need a little break. I’ll be back.”
It’s crap. It’s the conscious mind being duped by the mammal inside.
And the mammal is running scared, because the world that had been sustaining life is crumbling into pieces. Of course, the emergent new world is good, the results are happy.
So why leave?
It’s a mystery; until you consider that the job of the unconscious is to stick to a plan that has been perfected over millions of years, even if this moron of a human has different intentions.
Welcome to human existence – old mammalian rules no longer apply.
Change threatens the status quo, it is the ultimate disrupter – literally peeling away the ego’s identity with itself, actively redefining you. But it’s not you changing, that is false.
People don’t change, people simply stop living into a delusion about who they are.
And to do that, to commit to that – requires putting a pebble in your shoe. You need to become your own disrupter. You need to be the irritant to your identity, to your ego, to your status quo.
All of this assumes that you want to grow, evolve and be happy?
Happiness results from the Evolution of the Self. It’s a by-product of clarity, focus and determination. My daughter Grace has already noticed that she is happiest when she is super busy. When she is juggling circus coaching, assignments, friendships, digital overload, parental interventions, sibling teasing…
THAT IS WHEN SHE IS AT HER BEST.
Right now, in ATSuccess, one of my members has (just about) decided to leave – right at the moment when he is getting the most clear, the most focused. It’s like:
“Thanks, got that. Now I can carry on by myself.”
Er…. NO.
You got where you got, because you put an ATSuccess pebble in your shoe. Now you are about to throw the pebble out, convinced you can do it on your own, when the evidence of YOUR last 4 years says otherwise.
It amazes me that people progress, get success, then say:
“Oh, I don’t need to spend this money any more. I’ve gotten what I want.”
As if what you got is a noun. It’s not a noun. It’s a verb, stupid.
And I watch what happens after that moment. They stay right there, where they finished. In a noun. In a same-seeking awareness, with same-like ideas and doing same practices.
Their conscious evolution segues into subconscious staus-quo-management.
Don’t do that to your Self, or your life. Recognize that the best investment in you, is to put a pebble in your shoe. To keep a pebble in your shoe. Every day. Maybe not the most comfortable life at first, but it works.
And it works every time, that’s my experience.
Right now, the pebble I am presenting, is an opportunity to join a committed community AT teachers. They all want to seek out alternative ways to teach – in groups. Ways that can redefine who you are as a teacher; redefine how you communicate the work; seek a new path towards deeper satisfaction and joy in teaching people you love to teach.
This is not just an 8-week course – I am setting this up, as a one year adventure.
You won’t be just listening to me, you will be interacting with a passionate, committed community of 32 teachers, and counting. I have promised them to be available for a year in the secret Facebook community, that is already waiting for you to join…
Consider putting a pebble in your shoe…
